About

Hi, I'm Allie!

I am a Christian abstract artist and my desire is for people to encounter Jesus through my work. I make vibrant and emotive paintings, exploring colour and fluidity which is reflective of my passionate and untamed worship to God. Each piece is created in partnership with Him and the intent of drawing us closer to His heart of love.

About Me

I live in Alberta, Canada, with my husband and three little kids. I have been painting for over a decade, and oversee the creative arts ministry at my church. When I'm not making art, you'll find me sweeping up the never-ending crumbs my sweet, rambunctious little kids trail all over the house, haha! I love baking, gardening, knitting, and getting outdoors.

My Art

I started painting as a form of worship in 2012. I had always loved art growing up and had a desire to use it for worship, but no matter how hard I tried, I struggled to make anything good. One day, my aunt painted during a worship service. I said (in frustration) to the Lord that evening, "See that? That's what I want to do. So here's my gift. Do whatever you want with it."

"Ok," He replied, "Go grab your sketchbook. We're going to start right now."

Gulp!

So I obeyed. He had me draw my hands in black and white and His lips blowing colour onto my hands. Ever since then, I could do anything.

How is Fine Art a Form of Worship to God?

I could talk for hours on this topic! Technically, we call this prophetic art, although worship art and kingdom art are common terms as well. The creative arts can be found all over the Bible as forms of worship, prophecy, and intercession. Music, creative writing, dance, and yes, art. In Exodus 31, God anoints two artists and gives them wisdom in all kinds of crafts to build the Tabernacle - the first house of worship - and everything in the Tabernacle according to His designs. Pretty cool.

Prophetic art is us partnering with God and displaying His heart of love through creativity. Prophecy is simple - God speaks. 1 Corinthians 14:1-5 describes prophecy as strengthening, encouraging, and comforting. God is good and whenever He speaks, He speaks to build us up and draw us closer to Himself. When we partner with God to create, each painting, song, dance, poem is an encounter with His love.
